This caramel apple pizza recipe has one of the best payoffs of all the desserts I’ve made.
It’s basically an assembly of ingredients, all stacked on top of each other. At least they’re delicious and easy to find in the stores.
Perfect Dessert
Regardless of what you have for dinner, this caramel apple pizza dessert is the perfect dish to serve after dinner.
We like it after a Mediterranean salad or this Italian chicken zucchini casserole.
Ingredients
You don’t need a lot of ingredients to make this delicious dessert. Of course, you’ll need a pizza crust.
You also need apples cooked in sugar. Since I don’t typically have a ton of time, I purchase the canned apple pie filling for this dessert.
If you do have time, just add apples, sugar, water, and some spices in a saucepan.
Sprinkle some spices like cinnamon and ginger over it. Cook until the apples are tender.
You’ll also need butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, caramel sauce, powdered sugar, and water.
You can add other flavors if you want, but I recommend sticking to the recipe the first time you make it.
Then it’s fun to adjust the recipe to your personal taste.
For exact measurements of each ingredient and full directions, go to the recipe card at the bottom of the page. You can even print out the card by using the “print” button.
How to Make a Caramel Apple Pizza
It’s not difficult to make this caramel apple pizza. But the payoff is absolutely amazing!
The recipe is simple and straightforward, especially if you start out with an already-cooked pizza crust.
First, spread the butter over the entire crust. Sprinkle the brown sugar over it.
Next, empty a can of apple pie filling (or you can make your own from scratch) and spread it over the buttered crust.
Sprinkle the cinnamon over the apple mixture.
Stick your pizza in the oven and bake it until the edges of the crust turn brown. Remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
Finally, add the toppings. I drizzled the caramel sauce first. Then I drizzled the powdered sugar and water mixture over that.
As soon as you have the toppings drizzled on the pizza, it’s ready to eat. Serve it with or without additional toppings.
You can also put a dollop of ice cream or whipped cream over it. Or if you’re a chocoholic, you can drizzle chocolate syrup or sprinkle some chocolate chips over it.
Benefits of Apples
We’ve all heard the old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” There’s some truth to that.
In fact, apples are one of the most nutritious foods we can eat. According to Medical News Today, they are packed with fiber, water, antioxidants, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals.
Gluten-Free Caramel Apple Pizza Recipe
Eight years ago, I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance. Unfortunately, back then it was difficult to find anything good that didn’t have gluten.
Pizza crust was totally out of the question, so I figured out ways to have what I wanted. But most of them tasted like cardboard.
Now, it’s easy to find delicious gluten-free pizza crust. So this caramel apple pizza recipe is one I can now enjoy.

Wonder how it would be with a shortbread or cookie crust

Hi Andrea. It'll be good but very sweet. Maybe you can cut the caramel in half or leave it off if you don't want it too sweet. Or if you do want it sweet, that's okay too. I'd love to hear how it turns out if you do that.
