Since I don’t like to buy small quantities of pecans, I get a big bag of them at Costco or a slightly smaller bag at Aldi. Then I have enough to make at least these 5 recipes as well as these delicious roasted pecans.
They’re perfect for snacking, and I feel good about it because pecans are nutritious.
As much as I use pecans, I should probably have a pecan tree and grow my own. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can since we live in a townhouse. Both sets of my grandparents had pecan trees, so there seemed to be an endless supply.
After my dad retired from the U.S. Air Force, he and my mom bought a house with pecan trees. I was in college when they lived there. Every time I visited them in the fall, they’d put me to work picking up pecans off the ground.

Picking up the pecans was just the beginning. Afterward, I’d come inside to rest, but that never lasted long.
My dad wold hand me a pecan-shelling gadget and put me to work again. At least I had pecans to bring back to college with me.
