This cottage cheese ranch dressing is a fantastic, healthier alternative to traditional ranch dressing. I like it for a variety of reasons. Not only is it incredibly easy to make, but it also adds a lot of protein, thanks to the cottage cheese. I made this dressing very thick, but it’s easy to thin it out if that’s your preference.
Keep in mind that this is one of many ways to make ranch dressing. I like all of them, depending on what I need or want in my diet. When I follow keto, this is the one I choose.
What Makes Cottage Cheese Ranch Dressing Special
I appreciate how cottage cheese is a versatile ingredient that adds creaminess without the extra calories found in mayonnaise or sour cream. Plus, it’s loaded with protein.
By blending cottage cheese with a touch of heavy cream (or milk) and some ranch seasoning, you can get a smooth, flavorful dressing that’s perfect for a variety of uses. I actually like mine with a little texture, so I don’t blend it as long. However, if you want a smoother consistency, blend it an extra minute or two.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese (large or small curd)
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream (or milk)
- 1 teaspoon ranch seasoning
Directions
Blend the Base: Start by placing the cottage cheese and heavy cream (or milk) into a blender or food processor. Blend until the mixture reaches your desired consistency. If you prefer a smoother texture, blend for a bit longer. For a chunkier dressing, a quick blend will do the trick.
Add the Flavor: Once the base is as smooth as you want, add in the ranch seasoning. Blend again until the seasoning is thoroughly incorporated into the mixture.
Change the Consistency: As I mentioned earlier, I like this dressing very thick. However, if you want to thin it out, add more cream or milk and blend again. I highly recommend only adding one tablespoon at a time so you don’t overdo it.
- Serve and Enjoy: Your cottage cheese ranch dressing is now ready to serve! Use it as a dressing for your favorite salads, a dip for fresh vegetables, or even as a spread for sandwiches and wraps.

Versatile and Customizable
One of the best things about this recipe is how easily it can be customized to suit your taste. Here are a few ideas to personalize this dressing:
- Add a handful of fresh herbs like dill, parsley, or chives for an extra burst of flavor.
- Mix in a clove of minced garlic or a dash of garlic powder if you love a garlicky punch.
- A pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce can add a nice kick for those who enjoy a bit of heat.
Perfect for Meal Prep
This cottage cheese ranch dressing is also a great option for meal prep. Make a batch at the beginning of the week and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It should stay fresh for up to a week, making it easy to add a healthy and delicious component to your meals throughout the week.
