Pizza Flavored Oyster Crackers
If you like pizza, you’ll love this delicious treat! They’re easy to make and very budget-friendly when you’re feeding a crowd. I like to offer a variety of munchies when I have get-togethers. Another favorite savory snack is a bowl of this Chex party mix. I make it gluten-free. We also enjoy roasted pecans. When I was growing up, we had pecan trees, but now I have to buy them, either from Aldi or from Costco.
Ingredients for Pizza Oyster Crackers
All of these ingredients are easy to find at any grocery store. Here is what you’ll need:
- Oyster crackers (of course)
- Cooking oil, either avocado or olive oil
- Grated parmesan cheese
- Italian seasoning or pizza seasoning)
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Salt
Although you can use as much or as little of the seasonings as you like, I have my recommended amounts in the printable recipe card at the very bottom of this page.
I rarely use canola oil or other vegetable oil these days. However, if that is all you have on hand, please feel free to use it.
I’m a big believer in saving money and trips to the store, so use what you have in your pantry. Chances are, you’ll like the seasonings that you use frequently.
You can add other seasonings if you want. Here are some that will be good:
- Dill weed
- Thyme
- Cayenne
- Red pepper flakes
- Taco seasoning for taco flavored oyster crackers (instead of Italian seasoning)
- Ranch seasoning for ranch oyster crackers
Also, if you don’t have oyster crackers, you can use saltine crackers. They’re good, but they’re bigger than bite-size.
*Note: If you like heavily seasoned food, you can always add more. Or if prefer it toned down a bit, that’s fine too. Always adapt any recipe you follow to suit your family’s taste.
How to Make Pizza Oyster Crackers
The process pizza crackers is very quick and easy. I always recommend gathering everything and measuring it out before you begin the process. First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the crackers in a large bowl. You can mix everything on the baking sheet to save cleanup time, but I’ve found that it’s easier to mix the ingredients in a bowl.
In a small bowl, combine the oil, grated cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder. Thoroughly mix all of these ingredients.
Pour the mixture over the crackers in the larger bowl and gently stir until all of the crackers are coated with the seasonings.
Turn the crackers out onto the lined baking sheet. Spread them out until they’re in a single layer.
Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until they turn medium golden brown. Remove the crackers from the oven. Let them cool for 5 minutes and then serve.
