What Makes This Recipe Special
There’s something special about recipes that come together with minimal effort but still deliver big flavor, and this baked ranch fish checks all the boxes.
- Only 2 main ingredients – You probably already have them on hand.
- Quick prep time – Just a couple of minutes to get it oven-ready.
- Family-friendly flavor – Ranch seasoning is always a crowd-pleaser.
- Versatile – Works with a variety of white fish like mahi mahi, tilapia, cod, or haddock.
Whether you’re cooking for yourself or feeding a hungry family, this dish is simple, reliable, and downright tasty.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Boneless white fish fillets (I used mahi mahi.)
- Ranch dressing

That’s it! You can keep it simple or add a few optional garnishes if you want to dress it up.
How to Make Baked Ranch Fish
This recipe couldn’t be easier. Follow these simple steps for perfectly baked fish every time.
Preheat the oven to 375˚ F. Grease the bottom of a baking dish to prevent sticking. Place the fish fillets in the baking dish in a single layer.

Spread the ranch dressing evenly over the top of each fillet. If you’re using paprika, either add it now or after the fish is done. I added it now.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish.

If you like a little more color on top:
Broil for 1–2 minutes at the end. Keep a close eye on it so it doesn’t burn. Once the fish flakes easily with a fork, it’s ready to serve!

Tips for the Best Results
Even though this recipe is simple, a few tips can help you get the best flavor and texture every time.
- Choose the right fish: Mild white fish like tilapia, mahi mahi, cod, flounder, or haddock works best.
- Don’t overcook: Fish cooks quickly, so check it at the 10-minute mark.
- Use a thin layer of ranch: You want enough for flavor, but not so much that it overwhelms the fish.
- Pat the fish dry: This helps the ranch dressing stick better and improves the texture.

Easy Ways to Dress It Up
If you want to take this dish from simple to a little more special, there are plenty of easy upgrades.
- Sprinkle paprika on top before or after baking for a touch of color and mild smokiness.
- Add chopped fresh parsley or chives after baking for a fresh finish.
- Mix a little grated Parmesan cheese into the ranch dressing for extra richness.
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice right before serving to brighten the flavor.
These small additions can make a big difference without adding much extra work.

What to Serve with Baked Ranch Fish
This dish pairs well with just about any side, making it a great option for a balanced meal.
- Steamed or roasted vegetables like broccoli, green beans, or asparagus
- Honey roasted sweet potatoes
- Baked potato
- Buttermilk garlic mashed potatoes
- Rice or buttered noodles
- Garden salad
If you’re keeping things quick and easy, even a bagged salad and some microwave rice will do the trick.

Storage and Reheating
If you happen to have leftovers, they’re easy to store and reheat.
Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
Reheat: Warm gently in the oven or microwave until heated through.
Keep in mind that fish is best enjoyed fresh, but this still reheats nicely for a quick lunch the next day.
