Crock Pot BBQ Chicken & Potatoes

Easy 5-Ingredient Recipe

This Crock Pot BBQ chicken and potatoes recipe is one of those easy comfort meals that makes busy days feel a whole lot easier. I love the fact that with only a handful of simple ingredients and almost no prep work, I can serve a satisfying dinner without spending all evening in the kitchen.

As everything cooks together in the slow cooker, the potatoes soak up all that rich barbecue flavor while the chicken becomes juicy and fork tender. The butter melts into the sauce and creates a deliciously rich coating that ties all the flavors together perfectly. This dinner is delicious with an easy side of green beans.

Ingredients You’ll Need

You only need 5 ingredients for a delicious meal. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Chicken breasts
  • Baby potatoes
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Onion soup mix
  • Butter

Simple Directions

One of the best things about this recipe is how simple it is to throw together. You don’t need fancy ingredients or complicated steps.

Just place everything in the slow cooker, turn it on low if you have all day or high if you only have a few hours, and let it do the work for you. It’s the kind of recipe that’s perfect for hectic weekdays, lazy weekends, or those days when you simply don’t feel like standing over the stove.

How to Serve BBQ Chicken and Potatoes

Because this dish includes both protein and potatoes, it’s practically a complete meal all by itself. If you want to round it out, you can add a side garden salad, corn on the cob, or even a slice of warm southern-style cornbread. But honestly, this barbecue chicken and potatoes recipe is hearty enough to satisfy everyone on its own.

Variations and Add-Ons

Another reason this recipe is such a favorite is that it’s incredibly flexible. There are times when the only cut of chicken I have in the fridge is thighs, so I use those. And if you really like the skin, feel free to swap out the skinless for skin-on in the recipe.

You can also use your favorite homemade barbecue sauce to customize the flavor. Whether you prefer sweet, smoky, spicy, or tangy barbecue sauce, it works beautifully in this dish.

You can even add one or more of these extras:

  • Sliced onions
  • Shredded cheese
  • Bacon bits
  • Diced bell peppers

And to make it even more appetizing, garnish it with chopped parsley, which also adds some fresh flavor!

What to Do with Leftovers

This slow cooker barbecue chicken and potatoes recipe is also great for meal prep because the leftovers reheat beautifully. The flavors become even richer the next day, making it perfect for easy lunches or another quick dinner later in the week.
