Slow Cooker Sweet Chili Chicken

This slow cooker sweet chili chicken recipe is perfect for those times when I’m in the mood for the combination of sweet and savory. The delicate balance of flavors is like a party in the mouth with every bite!

Sweet chili chicken on a plate

Most of the time, I use my standard-size slow cooker for this dinner. However, when I’m making a meal for two, I use my smaller one.

Another favorite is this Crock Pot ranch chicken dinner. The seasonings in the packet of ranch dressing add depth to the flavor. We also like this slow cooker chicken stew for two.

Slow Cooker or Instant Pot

Did you know that most things you cook in the slow cooker could also be cooked in an Instant Pot? If you’re in a hurry, put all of the recipe’s ingredients into your Instant Pot. You’ll need to add an additional cup of water so the contents can become fully pressurized.

Set the timer for 15 minutes. It takes a few minutes to get up to full pressure. After it’s done, allow the pressure to release slowly for 8 minutes, and then dinner is ready.

Sweet chili chicken is super quick and easy to make. Start the process by assembling the ingredients in the morning. Put them in your slow cooker, turn it on, and go about your busy day. You’ll come home to a wonderful aroma that lets you know dinner is done! And a big bonus is that it’s inexpensive!

Ingredients

You don’t need many ingredients for this delicious meal.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Chicken
  • Grape jelly
  • Chili sauce
  • Water

For exact measurements of each ingredient and full directions, go to the recipe card at the bottom of the page. You can even print out the card by clicking on the “print” button.

Directions

This is so easy you can put everything in the pot in less than two minutes. In fact, you might even be able to do it more quickly. First, layer the chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker.

Next, add the grape jelly. Try to distribute it evenly around the pot, but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Then pour in the chili sauce as evenly as you can. Again, if it’s not perfect, don’t worry about it.

Finally, add the water, and cover it.

That’s it. So easy! You’ll be amazed by the amazing flavor of those few ingredients!

I like lots of color on my plate. For that reason, I serve this delicious sweet chili chicken with potatoes or rice and a green vegetable.

More Recipes

Since I’m often in a hurry, I appreciate my Instant Pot. One of our favorite Instant Pot dishes is this taco soup that we eat with corn chips. We also enjoy this Instant Pot lentil soup served with crusty bread.

Another chicken dish in the slow cooker that we enjoy is this chicken and vegetables meal. It’s packed with flavor and nutrition, so it delivers what we need.

Total Time 5 hours 2 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup of grape jelly
  • 1 bottle of chili sauce (12 oz. bottle)
  • 1/2 cup of water

Instructions

    1. Spray the bottom of a slow cooker pot with nonstick cooking spray.
    2. Place the chicken thighs in a single layer on the bottom of the pot.
    3. Scoop the grape jelly over the chicken. Pour the chili sauce over the grape jelly covered chicken.

    6. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and a green vegetable.
