Copycat Chick Fil A Sauce

This copycat Chick Fil A sauce is an amazing replica of a popular dip from a lot of people’s favorite fast food restaurant. You can use it on so many different foods, from chicken to salads. I even like it on pork chops and seafood!

My family loves the flavor, so I make it to dip vegetables, chicken tenders, and beef tips. This signature sauce recipe is also easy to duplicate with ingredients you probably have on hand.

Any time you make a copycat recipe, it’s a good idea to know what it tastes like from the source. That way, you can adjust the ingredients if needed to make it taste like the real thing. And most of the time, we already have the ingredients in the fridge or pantry.

One of the things you probably know about this particular sauce is that it tastes sweet with a little bit of zing that makes it delicious. It’s one of the sweeter sauces offered by Chick Fil A. And I love the fact that it’s such an easy recipe with simple ingredients available in any grocery store.

Favorite Sauce for Chicken Nuggets and More

Most people get or make delicious Chick Fil A sauce for adding flavor to chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches, or chicken strips. You can even make this delicious copycat Chick Fil A Chicken Sandwich to go with it!

It’s also good on other foods, such as French fries and potato chips. In fact, my husband likes wavy potato chips dipped in this copycat dipping sauce. I like it on Tater Tots. Who says you can only eat something the way it was originally intended? I certainly don’t. In fact, I encourage you to try this sauce on a variety of foods to discover your favorite ways to enjoy it.

Ingredients

As I mentioned, most of the ingredients in this sauce are sitting in your kitchen right now.

Here is the ingredient list:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Barbecue sauce (any bbq sauce is good)
  • Yellow mustard
  • Honey
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
mayonnaise, honey, mustard, barbecue sauce, salt, and pepper

For exact measurements of each ingredient and full directions, go to the recipe card at the bottom of the page. You can even print out the card by using the “print” button.

Of course, you can add other pantry ingredients that sound good. I often do that to all of my recipes to make them my own. Also, the barbecue sauce comes in many different flavors. When I’m not making my own homemade barbecue sauce, I typically pick up any flavor of Sweet Baby Ray’s. However, I’ve also been known to use the store brand of bbq sauce, which is almost always good too.

Any time you make a new recipe, I recommend following the directions. Then test other ingredients on a small amount that you set aside. You can also use honey mustard salad dressing in place of the honey and mustard ingredients. If you feel that it needs more of either one, simply add a little at a time until you get it just right.

Some of the other things I’ve added are lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, and even maple syrup. For a smoky flavor, add a splash of liquid smoke.

How to Make Copycat Chick Fil A Sauce

You’ll be amazed by how easy this recipe is to make. It’s just a matter of mixing and then waiting for the flavors to meld.

Chick Fil A sauce ingredients in a bowl with a spoon

You’ll need a small bowl. If you plan to double this recipe for a larger crowd, use a medium bowl. Combine all of the ingredients and whisk until they are all blended. This should only take a minute or two.

Now cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for at least an hour so the flavors can come to life. There’s something about all of the ingredients hanging out together for a while that makes it come out better.

Another thing you can do is heat it on the stovetop in a small saucepan. Or you can put it in a small slow cooker and cook on low for a couple of hours. I’ve tried both of these methods, and I don’t see a huge difference.

What to Serve with Copycat Chick Fil A Sauce

At first, you’ll probably want to serve this delicious sauce the traditional way, with chicken tenders or chicken nuggets.

But then you need to branch out and try it with other foods—some for dipping and others to cook with. In addition to chicken tenders, here are some dishes that are good for adding Chick Fil A sauce:

French Fries – If you like ketchup on your fries, you’ll love this sauce! It’s a whole new flavor sensation that’s absolutely amazing!

Waffle Fries – Basically, these are waffle shaped French fries, so it stands to reason that this famous sauce is perfect for dipping them.

Bacon Wrapped Potato Wedges – When you combine the great flavors of the Chick Fil A sauce and bacon wrapped potato wedges, you have a win-win culinary event. It’s absolutely heavenly!

Salmon Patties – The sweet and tangy flavor of this delicious sauce is a wonderful substitute for the typical cocktail or tartar sauce on salmon patties.

Pork Chops – Next time you make pork chips, either fried or grilled, serve some of this popular sauce on the side for dipping.

Pork Tenderloin – Drizzle a little bit of the Chick Fil A signature sauce over your pork tenderloin, and everyone will ask for seconds.

Country Style Ribs – These ribs are just as good with this Chick Fil A sauce as they are with the typical smoky barbecue sauce I use.

Jiffy Hushpuppies – When you serve these hushpuppies from Back to My Southern Roots, try dipping them in this sauce. They’re good without it, but they’re amazing when dipped!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts – All veggies are better with this sauce, and Brussels sprouts are no exception!

How to Store Chick Fil A Sauce

Put the leftover sauce in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator. Use either a plastic container with a lid, a bowl covered in plastic wrap, or a mason jar. You can freeze it in a freezer-safe plastic container. I’ve also stored it in freezer bags. If you enjoy the sauce as much as we do, you’ll want to make a double batch and then freeze half of it.

How Long Does Chick Fil A Sauce Last?

This homemade sauce will last for about a week in the refrigerator. It will stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Is Chick Fil A Sauce Gluten Free?

Yes, this recipe makes a gluten-free sauce. When you make homemade sauce, you control the ingredients.

Keep Some Chick Fil A Sauce on Hand

I like to make extra Chick Fil A sauce for those times when I feel that a dish needs a little extra flavor. Store it in a mason jar or other airtight container in the refrigerator. You can also freeze it. After it thaws, give it a quick whisk to reincorporate the ingredients that might have separated.
